Jimmy
posted June 2011
This is jimmy. She is about 4 years old. Before she came to me
she was thought to be a he so the name had to stay as she didn't know any other.
She has a cloudy right eye and her left eye is a brilliant emerald green.
She always looks sad but I reckon that is because she is convinced that there
will not be enough food left for her after the other 14 have been fed. Someday
we hope to get a photo of her smiling. She does not let me pet her yet as she is
very very timid but she does now speak. She is so timid
that she waits till all the others are fed before she eats. We reckon she has
such a timid nature that she wont eat until all the others have eaten. not the
best plan when there are 20 mouths to be fed.
This is NONAME

This is Noname.
Who Noname came from we do not remember but it was about 2007 that he
joined the gang. He, like the other semi tame cats, was wary of us at
first but of late has become more chilled out. And he now lets me bob my
forehead off his and he does like to be fed at a different height to the
other cats. It started with him letting
us give him a chin scratch and a head rub when we opened up the shed in
the morning. Now, with the fine weather, he is letting us rub him and as
one can see from the photo above he is showing us his tummy. This is a
sure sign that he is more relaxed. |
Swifty

Meet Swifty. She came to us in 2010, with her mother who was completely feral. There
were other kittens who were perfectly calm but swifty took her lead from her
mother and is feral. The mother cat was returned to where she came from, but swifty stayed as it would not have been fair to put her back with the mother as
she had no memory of that place as she was a week old when she came to us.
Once
she was five months old she was neutered and now stays around with the other
cats that cannot be rehomed. The main need in her mind is food so if you would like
to sponsor her love of food it would be wonderful.
Silvy

Silvey is a beautiful silvery cat with champagne coloured stripes who came to us with his
brother Skitty, pictured above sharing a bed with him. Skitty unfortunately has
passed away due to Luekemia. They were never apart having been rescued from a
ghost estate in Cork County in 2010. At first they were completely
petrified when they came to us and so it was a long time before they relaxed.
When they finally learnt that humans were not all bad they were tame and were
just about to start looking for homes when Skitty passed away.
When that happened Silvy reverted to running away from
us and he is still very wary without his
companion. He will let us pet him but only on his terms, but its all going
well so that is good news. He cannot be rehomed as he has a routine here that he
feels safe with. He likes to play with the new kittens and he tries to herd them
so they do not get too far when they are out and about. It saves me having to
worry I have lost them as he will tell me where they are by sitting on them.
Torti
Meet Torti. She is a beautiful dark torti who came to us in
2009 with her kittens. Like many here she won't let us touch her. She does stay around but we
believe she doesn't have any cat companion amongst the other cats. She is very
fast to run toward the shed when it is breakfast and dinner time and she loves
the soft cat food. Once the kittens were rehomed, she was
neutered and once she tasted freedom she decided she was staying but on her
terms.
Skippy
Skippy came to us with a serious injury and kittens. Her kittens were rehomed
but Skippy required extensive medical treatment as her hind leg was missing the
bottom joint and paw and was very infected. Thus her hind leg was removed and
although you might think that would slow her down she
soon learned how to use the three legs quite well. She can manage quite a turn
of speed and was the leading rodent catcher for ages. She, like many of the
cats listed here, is feral which means she won't allow you to touch her. She
will however complain if she feels her dinner should be served and we are being
tardy.
Skippy has a new routine now winter 2011 has arrived which is to get herself
into bed under the heat lamp before the other cats can get the good spot.
